Door Squeaks......

A few months ago my 237,000 mile '91 200 TQW started exhibiting
irritating door squeaks. I fiddled with it for a while, and then one
day I put the car on a flat surface, opened all the doors, and
individually reset the strikes on the pillars.
End of problem. It appears that if the strikes are off, and the
latching mechanisms are not centering, it racks one or more doors
relative to the frame, which has an effect on overall body symmetry,
and the doors rub in the wrong places. Without even touching the rear
hatch, this process also fixed a strange rattle in the hatch latching.
Note that the latching mechanisms on the doors are not adjustable -
you loosen the bolt on the pillar and move it around.
