Hakka 10's loosing studs

I have a set of Hakka 1's with plenty of tread but no studs.  There was a 20-30% loss of studs by the second winter and midway through this third winter there were only a couple clinging to each tire.  The noise level dropped but so did my safety margin for ice.  My Hakka's had the Eco-studs, if that makes any difference.
