I was about to install the Nissen's radiator tonight when something very
unfortunate happened. One of the captive nuts on the bottom broke free!
Now, I had read the posts about those nuts not having great threads, and
it looked like there was some paint in the threads. So, I took it easy
threading in the bottom mounts. I was taking it slow, and backing it out
a little, then going in some more. Phil Rose was there and can atest to
the fact that I wasn't wrenching on the mount. Anyway, after the one
broke, I used a little 3-in-1 oil and got the other to go in, still
tough going. Now, I have one mount that is just floating there with as
much as 1/4 inch movement in and out. That nut is firmly wedged on the
threads. I'm going to call Rod and see what he says about it. Anyone
else have this happen? It seems like I got one where the captive nut
wasn't welded properly.
