Where's the backup switch located on the transmission?

Folks:

Backup lights aren't working.

I have a sloppy shifter that needs some parts replacement, but in the meantime would like to at least get the back up lights to work.

didn't see it under the shift boot or around the console, so I assume that its only accessable from underneath the car?

Looked into Bentley manual and could not find the location.
