Grinding noise when turning left

There's a good reason that Audi specifies 133 lb-ft of torque for
that nut--also a special (and not very costly) tool for doing it. I
doubt you were able to get very close to the required torque using a
"big pair of channel locks", so keep an eye on it, it's what holds
your strut together.
