Brandon,
Chances are good that the drain tube on your evaporator housing is plugged.
This results in the housing slowly filling with water, eventually seeping out
and getting your carpet wet. The resulting smell is, well, not pleasant.
Next hot day (soon, I hope), run your A/C for a while. Look to see if you
have drops of water coming out the bottom of your car somewhere in the area
of where the trans and the engine meet. If you run the A/C for some time,
and you don't see a little water puddle forming under your car, the drain is
plugged. You'll need to clear it out so that the evap housing can drain.
