Two reasons to plan on doing the caps while doing the o-rings.
1) If the lower o-ring is really stuck hard to the bore it can tear the cap
up during removal. BTDT.
2) The rim of the cap acts as one side of the groove for the lower o-ring.
Chances are good you'll destroy that old brittle cap rim while replacing the
o-rings.
They're cheap, easy to replace, best to just plan on replacing them and have
them in hand before starting the job.
