Purchasing and shipping from Europe

excuse my ignorance of international commerce, but I am looking at buying
some parts used from Germany and was wondering if anyone knows of the
easiest way to transfer money, I have not yet heard from the seller (and
don't know if he speaks english yet, but that is something else) so I don't
know if he has done this either.  anyway, does pay pal work for this type of
transaction?, Personal/ bank check? Money order?
if you have any help you can respond off list.
