Type 44 wheel bearing DIY BTDT?

Jon,
The preferred method to do JUST wheel bearings is to use the special tool
(anyone remember the tool#???).  From what I have read on this list, this
tool allows removal of the wheel bearings with the strut assembly still
attached to the vehicle.

I replaced my wheel bearings the old fashioned way, with a shop press, while
converting to the later V8 strut assemblies/G60 brakes, installing H&R
springs and replacing the struts/strut bearings, and control arms.

If you decide pull the strut assemblies, let me know and I will put my
caliper to the 5ktq strut assemblies sitting in my shed (which were sent in
error and that I have yet to send back) and let you know what diameter press
tools/pipe you will need to press the bearings in/out.

Unless you need/want to replace a bunch of other suspension parts while your
getting dirty as I did, it will save time and effort to borrow/rent the
tool.

If you don't get a good response on the tool number/where to get it, try
searching the archives, I'm sure you'll find something.

My sister's 5kcsq has at least one crapped-out wheel bearing. Is the
method for changing them out the same as on the later t44 cars, and if
so, has anyone published a good DIY procedural? Sorry for the
non-200q20v topic, I subscribe to this list because I have one of the
200q20v motors in my urq, and I feel like even general info on this list
is a litle more "boiled down" than that gotten off the main list.
