I just acquired my 200 20v tq avant in October with 97k miles. My third
Audi. It has the "inboard caliper" brakes known as UFOs. Mine are OK. I
have been told that they are prone to warpage and subsequent vibration when
not cooled down sufficiently after very heavy braking. Heavy braking
generates heat, and rotor warpage when not cooled down sufficiently prior
to parking the vehicle.
I have two '91 Audis and both are Quattro with Torcen all-wheel drive. No
problems. I say you will like it. Mine have been trouble free.
You did not say how many miles are on the avant you are considering buying.
In my experiences, I have had most frequent maintenance at the 120k to 150k
mile range: clutch, heater blower fan, timing belt, hydraulic reservoir,
and some brake parts. It is important to know how well the previous owner
kept it maintained. Market value, on a reasonably well maintained 12 year
old 200 20v avant, with normal miles, I'm guessing, would be about $7000 to
$8500.
91 200 20v tqa 102k miles
91 100 quattro 190k miles
