That stuff looks like the fuel lines with braided cloth coverings. When I
redid my 200q20v pump, the original line was a smooth plastic-looking tube,
as was the replacement I bought because of the different attachment
arrangement with the newer, smaller pumps. Maybe my "old" pump was one
that had been replaced previously.
