Anyway, back on topic to the off-topic :-)

The whole $ limit came up recently with a guy who was buying goods on
ebay and bouncing the checks left and right.  He ripped off a guy
selling a Powerbook, and the owner went to a lot of trouble to track
him down, but nobody except the local police department gave a hoot,
because the amount in question was under the limit. Local cops loved
it, they got to do an undercover sting and nailed the guy with a ton
of goods and checks ready to get mailed out for even more goods.
