I'm still trying to come to terms with this...
I've agreed to sell my Avant to lister Ben Swann who flies in tomorrow
to pick it up from me.
I love the car, especially watching the faces of hopped up Civic owners
and the occasional Mustang/Camaro as I blow by, but the duties of work
and parenting two young daughters along with owning a home are just too
much for me to find time to spend 2 hours here, 4 hours there fixing
things like leaking power steering hoses, fuel leaks, etc. It's the
definition of vintage Audi ownership, ain't it? :) Let's face it, the
car is now 13 years old, and nothing lasts forever.
So, I'll stick with the (mostly) reliable Jetta TDI for now, and maybe
in a few months I'll be tempted by the revised WRX, or a deal on a used
one.
This won't be my last Audi, though I'm having a harder and harder time
finding an Audi that excites me for the price I can afford. A used
neu-S4 perhaps, or maybe a used TT225 alfresco? We'll see.
Thanks to the guys on the 200q20v list for helping me diagnose and fix
problems and provide emotional support throughout. I'll stick around
for a while, don't worry.
Special thanks to Peter Schulz for finding the car for me in the first
place, as well as to Scott Mockry of SJM Autotechnik fame, who continues
to show an uncanny ability to diagnose problems sight unseen over the
internet :)
