This thread is getting old.....anyway if he wants to sell the car he needs to market it to the younger honda mods crowd, they are starting to realize that you can buy junk and spend 10K for it and mods and wind up with a vehicle that ends up where the type 44 3b starts.
These guys stop me in the street (new paltz, ny), a guy jumps in front of my urq, I accuse him of being unintelligent and ask him to immediately move and he offers to buy my car for $8K which he then goes on in detail how great the car is and how he will trash his Honda posse and the chicks will appreciate him being different.........
Anyway, to post it on a fast & furious type site, just find the biggest rear spoiler you can, mount it on the back (helps if colors don't match), cite some hp specs, tell him you got a spare set of 20" wheels and there are more mods and hp to be done if he wants. You'll sell it in a week. (I don't think they are familiar with wood in cars, other than the short baseball bat kept under the seat, so leave the blacked out trim)
Ps- still driving my urq !! $8k is fair for an '83 but it's worth more to me
---my friend got a 20v avant for $3750, under 100k mileage, me I won't sell my avant for less than $15K, (especially after I do the 200K mile maintenance at the end of feb.)

I bought mine in 6/02... pearl/black sport, completely stock except an extra
set of mille miglia wheels. The car was in very nice cosmetic condition,
both in and out, drove and started excellent... really didn't "need" anything
when I bought it except a new thermostat. 120k on the clock, and I paid $5k.
I can't say I've got less than 6k in it now (too many "adjustments" made),
but I think 5k was indicative of the market at that time. I've watched
numerous 20v sell on ebay for just short of this figure. I think if you're
going to sell, you're going to have to bite the bullet.
It seems to me that the only way you can avoid getting left holding the
depreciation bag, is to buy at, or near, the bottom of the curve (right now
for the 20v), have fun with it for 12 to 18 months, and sell... keeping all
your mod parts for your next project. I've been able to do this for years,
keeping my daily driver expense (less gas, oil and tires) at around 1k per
year, and sometimes less. Special cars certainly do better, as I drove an
'85 urq daily for over 2 years, and sold it for nearly 4k more than I paid
for it. Anyway, best of luck.
Dave
