How to flush (was: Mobil DTE-13M)

I might just reuse the drained Pentosin, without filtering, if it looked
pretty good. I'd let it settle in a clear jar first, to see what fell out.

But, faced with the problem you describe and some evidence of contamination
with particles/solids, I'd cut the back out of an old T-shirt and arrange
it in a large cheap plastic funnel that would hold at least a pint, and no
more than a quart. I might use two thicknesses of that T-shirt.  I would
place the funnel, pointy end down, in a wide-mouthed jar of about a gallon
capacity, so that about 2/3 of the funnel was in the
jar/container/tank/receiver, for stability.

As mentioned above, I'd let the drained Pentosin sit for a few hours, to
settle out the bigger particles.

I'd carefully and gently pour the used Pentosin through the contraption,
and see what came out the other side. I'd try to stop pouring before the
settled portion was reached. Throw away the bottom 10%.

Be sure to hold a sample of the filtered liquid up in a transparent
container, like a water glass, and look at it with a strong light behind
it. Then I would examine the used filter and determine what I had
accomplished in the way of removing solids. It should get out the big
chunks, and many of the smaller ones. The really fine suspended stuff
probably isn't causing any problems and should continue to give no trouble.
