Hard starting

Car is refusing to start in a reasonable time especially when the gas
tank is half full or below.  Thought it might be the cold weather but it
persists at all temps.  Had the shop test fuel pump and all hoses and
they checked out fine.  No codes showed either.  Checked archives for
similar probs but their solutions are not applicable unless my shop does
not know what they are doing.  Need some advice.
