Start prob - help

I went to start my car. I had the car in gear and didn't notice. When I
turned the key, the car lurched and died. Normally, I just pop it out of
gear and turn it over. Now, the start motor won't make a sound. It ran fine
today up until the incident.

 - Battery is fine

 - Check all the fuses in both the big and little holder under the hood. All
are fine

I am wondering this. The current load on the start motor was very high since
the car was in gear. Do you think I burnt some windings? I would think they
would fuse the start motor but where then is that fuse?
