near the rear differential area.  Starts when the
engine starts (NOT when the ignition turns on) and
stops when I turn the engine off.  Doesn't change
pitch under any conditions.

Is this the infamous fuel pump on its way out?
If so, how long might it last after starting to make
such noise?
