The one on mine is invisible except for a dab of white paint someone
applied to part of the mark. I found it very difficult to locate by
rotating the engine a tiny bit and then go look with a REALLY BRIGHT shoplight.
What I did was put a piece of dowel in the first cylinder and mark on it
where it stopped moving up as I rotated the engine. Then I checked the
timing mark opening with very gradual (like twice per click of a ratchet
wrench) movements. That let me see the pale dab of paint. Then, after I
had the pulley nut tightened again after replacing the seal, I put the
stick in the cylinder and did the jiggle again to relocate the white spot.
