water temp sensor

Hey all-
I know the water temp gauge gets it's signal from our favorite sensor, the MFTS, however I'm thinking I'd like to use a dedicated sensor for my VDO gauge because my engine temps seem so low (170F, or ~77C), I'm wondering if I'm getting a bad reading....?

Anybody know of a good place to do this?  I'm thinking there _might_ be a place for another sensor on the back of the head......
