He's probably right. Replacing the fuel-pump's check valve on our '91 
200q (with only 62K) solved exactly the problem you've described. The 
valve is very inexpensive ($10?)--and it's a fairly quick 
job--definitely the place to try a "fix" before pulling, testing, 
replacing injectors. BTW, our "bad" valve was soooo bad that it was 
easy to blow air through it in either direction. Of course if your 
car already has had its oem fuel pump replaced with one of the new 
style "slim" pumps, there'll be no external check valve to replace, 
so either the problem is elsewhere (or the replacement pump is 
defective). You'll know which pump is in there as soon as you remove 
the bayoneting cover-plate--the old-style (original) pumps have that 
mushroom-shaped noise damper on top (and the check valve is just 
below that).
