Valve cover gasket replacement question/MA state emissions ?

Please realize that Bernie does not replace anything if he can help it, 
he rarely even changes out the engine oil. He does have quite a bit of 
knowledge
of these beasts, but like the cantankerous old fart down the street, you 
just need to let him be himself. Which is a bit tough if you are new to 
the list.
Like right now he has togo get another mirror as one broke on him, this 
really must tear him up having to buy a part.
