Valve cover gasket replacement

I've discovered that I have a bad valve cover gasket (oil in two of the plug
holes) and before diving in wanted to ask if there are any tricks to this,
or anything that could get ugly if I'm not ready.  There is nothing in
Bentley to help me with this, or if there is I haven't found it.

It appears fairly straightforward, but it's hard to tell if I'm going to
have to completely remove the timing cover to get the valve cover free.  Any
words of wisdom and/or warning would be appreciated!
