That's a common failure mode for the MFTS. If it happens, it means 
you also have lost much turbo boost as well as  your A/C. Check the 
maximum boost and you'll probably see no more than about 1.4 bar. 
Also no A/C operation. Remove MFTS connector and both will be 
restored. Replacement MFTS about $40--available from many vendors.

Yes, but temp gauge ought to show this--does it? Failed MFTS will 
still produce a normal temp reading (or low temp, depending on 
whether or not you have the 3-pin type).
