Oil Leak

Kneale,

As far as I know, that bolt does not go through the oil pump.  From what i 
can tell, the bolt indicated is one of the two that secure the bracket for 
the alternator, and alternatively (:)) the front engine mount.

>From what I remember, all of the oil pump bolts are rather small (like 10mm 
head), and go through the oil pump.  I've also heard that you want to put 
some locktite or equivalent on those bolts when reinserting as they go 
through to the oil galley.

You said you've checked your main seal as well?  If it was main seal, and 
engine rotates counter-clockwise while viewed from the front, looks like the 
oil could come out down there and be scattered from the main shaft pulley.

Does the bolt with the arrow in this photo
http://www.pbase.com/image/31120869   have anything to do with the oil pump
housing being anchored to the block?

I have an oil leak that seems to commence just above this bolt.  I'm
wondering if operating the engine with this bolt loose might have
compromised the oil pump gasket, allowing it to leak even after the bolt is
retightened????

How about the bolt that anchors the alternator adjustment bracket (the one
with the teeth)????
