V8 timing belts reliably let go as early as 80k miles. The timing
belt area is entirely closed to the outside world. The belt is over
twice the length of an I-5 belt (think Hoola Hoop) and is dynamically
tensioned by a small Bilstein shock absorber/strut. There is little
if any relevance to an I5 tbelt, except that both are made of rubber.
