Agreed.  The reason for the upgrade is that the driver's door lock is so
worn that you need to play with the key to get it to open.  It will not
activate the alarm when you lock it.  I think that the passenger and driver
lock cylinders could be swapped, and that might be a solution as well.  BTW,
the patient is a 1994 S4; I just remembered the thread here a while back
about the RKE stuff and figured it might be transferable.

It's a good idea to use the keys to manipulate the lock cylinders in the
doors and trunk lid occasionally, as well as to lubricate those mechanisms.
 You never know when the battery may go dead because of a short (in either
the car or the remote).  A working lock will let you get to the car's
battery.
