Hi Nat,

I forgot I had this but ran across it tonight preping
for the 195K service. Came from Scott last year.
Haven't tried it yet but prob will in the next few weeks.

You still havin' the problem? I haven't for a few months.

Steve,

One thing to try, is to remove the idle stabilizer valve but leave the
electrical connector on the valve and then run the ECU Output tests and
step through the tests until it cycles the ISV on/off while you spray some
carb cleaner through the valve. I have seen them stick from time to time
from carbon bits that get stuck or embedded into the rotor valve face.

It is also a good idea to remove the vacuum/boost line from the fuel
pressure regulator under the intake manifold and make sure fuel isn't
leaking past the diaphragm into the vacuum port hose.

Thanks for your note, Scott,

It won't idle for the first minute or so after a hot start.
Some days (read recently) it's constant, some days it's OK.
If I keep the RPMs above idle with the pedal for a minute
or so, then it idles fine until I need to restart it later.

The problem started again last week some time. I had the
problem 2 1/2 years ago and it went away on its own. My
mechanic then (via telephone) thought it sounded like the
fuel pressure regulator but the problem fixed itself before
I had them actually diagnose it (and now I've moved 150
miles from them, and he sold the shop anyway.) So the
FPR, and also the Idle Stabilizer Valve, have never been
changed (at 188K miles). I changed the fuel pump last
year, however, from the original to the narrow-body VDO,
if that makes any difference to you.

What do you think I should test or just replace first?

Thanks,

Ok, I thought I might have it figured out but, no.
I have searched the archives and found several
references to this problem but no solutions posted.

So, any help here would be appreciated.
A description of the issue...

This has only started as the weather has warmed up
and is an issue that the PO told me he had in hot
weather and here it is. After a short drive and
the car is warm, if I stop at a store or something,
when I start it up it starts *as normal* but then
stalls immediately if I don't get on the gas. Even
then If I let off the gas while maneuvering in the
parking lot it will stall. Once I get on the road
for a few seconds (?) it won't stall at say the
next light or stop. It will be fine until the next
shut off/start cycle. And this is only during warm
weather - like 70F +

What is going on here?

Thanks
Nat
