For all you driving a 5k/200 quattro in the rustbelt who eventually will
need to replace a leaking fuel tank because they're going to rust through
above the seam from the outside, be aware that if you use a tank from an
S-car like I did for my 200q20v, the pump retainer fixture in the tank is
different on the later models and won't accept the basket from your 200.
If you look at the image at http://www.pbase.com/image/30210145 you can
see that the part on the left from the S-car tank has little projections
not existing on the 200's part, and those projections won't let the basket
holding the pump drop into place to be twisted to the locked position.
These parts are held into the tank with three 10mm nuts. You can take off
the nuts and pull out the parts shown in the pix. I had to use a tool to
bend the straight flap into a round position to get it out of the access
hole in the top of the tank, and it was a struggle. Of course, the job of
replacing a tank on a quattro is a struggle too. Don't believe the simple
description in the Bentley and don't try this lying on your back with the
car on jackstands.
