A/C Stereo Clicking Diode AND Harness?

Howdy,

Thanks to some very helpful listers (Kneale and Mike--many thanks!) 
I've been pointed toward the solution to my A/C stereo clicking: the 
diode in the relay.  I'm going to attempt to replace the diode in relay 
part number 443 919 578 F (am I correct in understanding this is 
actually the ECU relay?).  A question, though: do I also need to create 
a harness such as the one that is mentioned on Scott Mockry's site 
(http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/TROUBLE_SHOOTING/elec.html#click)?
