If you're going down that road, I think a far better choice even still than a '90 90q20v would be a 4kq or an '88-'92 80q. No need for the 20v complexitiy in this case.

I have had, 3 of them. Each had beat up and all but destroyed "his" car in
short order. IMO the car that you are considering is too big and with too
much power for your intended application. Better would be the NA 90Q-20V,
cheap, solid and a good introduction to Quatro.
