IIRC, Audi of America only gives you the opportunity to buy an 
entire, new wastegate. In 1999, the diaphragm unavailability (from 
AoA) led to the following post by Phil Payne about an alternative -- 
available in the UK:

I also recall that someone (??) on the Qlist had acquired wastegate 
material and had it available to listers. I can't find the relevant 
post, so perhaps someone can chime in here with more info. I suggest 
you post to the main list, and someone will remember...
