New head unit and speakers..........

The '90 200 sedan we just bought came without a head unit. From
the archives it appears that only the '91 sedans had the speaker
pyro problem. Questions. Can I simply install a new head unit and
use the installed speakers, or do I have to get new speaker,
wires, etc. as well? Any backseat amps in the way? Any BTDT?
