Flywheel hall sensor & pin

My car refused to start on friday. I pulled the codes, and it turned out as
2112, hall sensor on flywheel. I checked the crank/cam timing and it was
correct. I replaced the sensor, but still 2112 and no start. I think the
flywheel pin might have been lost or broken, but I haven't had the time to
pull the starter and check yet. Anybody have any experience with this and
with replacing the pin without pulling the transmission and the flywheel?
