A/C Question 200q 20v

Just recently on my 200q20v I found that the factory fusible link for the radiator fan had broken.  I didn't notice that it was running hot, but I did notice that the a/c stopped working except occasionally.

Once the reservoir cap let the coolant loose and I saw the steam (it seemed like it was only at 3/4 on the gauge), I noticed the broken fusible link.

I replaced the fusible link and the fan works.  The nice surprise was that the a/c started working okay again.  I thought it was low on freon, but it was apparently the high pressure switch from the non-functioning fan.

Either that or somehow the current flow through the fan affects the a/c system more directly.  I didn't monitor the a/c controller for fault codes, but I did notice the outside temp light flashing.  What does that mean, btw?

I used one of those Japanese style fusible links in 80a.  It had two tabs sticking out to the sides, and bolted right into the spot for the stock fusible link strip, without the plastic cover that was loose on mine.  

(Btw, without the factory fusible link setup, one could unbolt the ground and bolt the same type of replacement fusible link inline with the ground wire like I did on my old 5kcstq.)

Anyway, most people would probably notice if their fan wasn't working, or if the car was running hot.  Somehow I missed it.
