A/C retro fit.

I assume I am very late to this game, but a note in the last digest brought 
it to the fore as one of my cars sits in the A/C shop.
Patient 91 200, with dryer, comp, and both A/C switches, "freon" replaced 
~6years ago @95K , previous owner.  Currently 145K and system has measured 
low pressure.  I am looking @ $450 to retro to r134 plus new dryer.  I am 
looking for any BTDT's.  I have heard of a TSB saying to replace expansion 
valve but A/C tech said they usually don't.  This is the wife and childs car 
and A/C is almost mandatory.   I will have to outsource this as I have nom 
access to necessary evac equipment etc.   If it works out, I'll probably 
look to do my 200 as well.
