electric auxiliary cooling pump

I can confirm what Brett says.  When mine originally started leaking it was 
around the seam where the impeller housing meets the pump body.  Bernie 
suggested using PVC or equivalent cement.  When I went to do that, the 
nipple on the pump/impeller housing disintegrated.

At that point, and in consideration of the fact that not even "all of the 
kings men could put humpty dumpty back again," and that I am only one, I 
decided to just buy a new pump.

These break simply with age.  Well known problem with that type of
plastic in virtually all VW and Audis of similar age.
