Broken door handle

Has anyone encountered a broken driver's side door handle (interior) on your
200?  This morning I attempted to open the door and the handle pulled freely
without opening the door.  So now I open it from the outside.  This reminds
me of my old 5000, when I had to climb in and out of the window because of
broken door handles.  I thought Audi fixed this defect, but after 13 years
and many thousands of times opening the door, I guess anything can break.
Any repair advice is most welcome.  Feel free to reply off-list.
