Fan fusible link?

I'm assuming the black plastic piece, drivers side engine  compartment, with 
a brown wire coming from the fan, a brown wire going to  ground and a piece of 
aluminum[?] between the two brown wires is a fusible  link, am I correct? 
Mine will no longer "fusible", so I need to replace it with  regular fuse[s]or 
something else. I searched the archives a bit and found  something about adding 
a 80 amp slo-blo or 2-40 amp slo-blo's in series. Anyone  have  
recommendations regarding what I should do?
