Valentine radar hardwire

I have been having trouble with my V1 radar detector. The remote display keeps breaking. I have sent back to Valentine 3 times and they keep fixing it. They now think the cause may be where I tapped into power for hardwiring it into the car. Like I am getting a power spike or something.  I just pulled power from the sunroof motor power wire. Anybody else pull power from there? Where else have you guys pulled power? I just want to tap into somewhere that is switched power so the detector will power on and off with the ignition. Any suggestions appreciated.
