I redid the entire suspension on my car myself, but had a lift.  As I  
recall, the sway bar is not under tension with the car resting on its wheels;  but 
it is what locates the front struts fore/aft in the wheel well.   Bentley lists 
the procedure as well.  Struts are heavy; a second person  helps.
