oil dip stick??

I am wondering if I need to purchase a new oil dip stick to maintain vacuum
so the oil warning light doesn't light up (it hasn't for a month now--after
having done  few things recently).  But not so sure my present oil stick
needs replacing.  My present dip stick has only one small black rubber O
ring  near the top of where the dip stick drops into the tube-----It seems
so easy to put in and out that I thought maybe a new one would feel more
secure inside the tube.
