Building on what Peter said:
My piston was ALL the way out and the backing pads (a la Bernie) were all
that was left.
This left the piston slightly "cocked" at an angle making pushing the piston
back in IMPOSSIBLE. Absoulute alignment was needed. I took the caliper out
and used a vice.

ETKA (at least for the avant AFAIK) shows a bias Valve left and right in
ADDITION to the front to rear bias mechanical valve under the drivers side BACK
seat.
