interior door handle

The drivers side interior door handle does not work. It failed with no warning yesterday, felt a snap or something when attempting to open the door. The exterior handle works fine. I have attempted to find reference to this problem or specifics in the bentley to no avail. I must admit that I always seem to have problems searching the archives so it may have been addressed but I am unable to find it. If there is no specific info, I assume just remove the interior door panel and figure it out. Any BTDT's before I delve into this?
