Interesting question Bernie, as I was a ski patroller for 25 years, and it 
definitely does help keep some thickness to your wallet....  I look forward 
to hearing your answer.  If you are/were a Patroller, cool I say.

In all those years I only bought a few tickets for wife and our two 
kids--otherwise they always skiied on "comp" tickets.  And now I get a deal 
on my season's pass-- of course my knees, back and shoulders have paid a 
price to earn that cheap pass.
