Kneale,
Are you planning to upgrade your previously downgraded brakes, back up to
the oriaginal UFOs?
You don't need a spring compressor until you have the strut assembly out of
the car, and then only if you wish to disassemble it. If not, and you
only want to solve the broken wheel bolt problem, do as follows: With the
strut assembly out of the car, just push the hub from the bearing housing
such that you can more easily work on the offending hub. If careful, this
will not damage the bearing, which can be relubed and reassembled after you
remove the broken bolt ends.

post of 11/01. Ask further if uncertain.
