Hood alignment?

I am having some trouble w/ my hood not latching on my avant after running off the road at relatively low speed and hitting a dirt berm that major scuffed my lower valence to the bumper. It looks like my bumper is slightly moved back, turn lenses broken, broken license plate holder and a dent on my oil filter. The hood looked like it was popped but I couldn't get it open at all until I rigged a wire hook to pull the cable a little more than the latch in the passenger compartment. I couldn't find anything major wrong, the latches seem to match up well to the holes, etc. It just does not shut completely, yet it latches so the cable must be pulled to open the hood. No dimpling of hood or fenders. All the body lines look good.
After replacing the oil filter and checking underneath w/ engine running, I can't find a thing wrong other than the hood and cosmetic blemishes. Interesting when I returned to the scene of the crime to find my license plate after the snow had melted, I was successful. I also found the blue audi radiator cap lying in the dirt. I thought 'oh shit' how could the impact force a threaded cap off a reservoir? After getting the hood open I found that the cap, although virtually identical, was not mine.
Any other thoughts other than getting the alignment checked that I should look out for? No oil leaking around new filter so it looks like a minor hit, but.....
thanx in advance,
andy
ps needless to say I am not the driver I thought I was. DOH!!
