Bira System 2 for UFOs

Mike-
Considering that, AFAIK, there are only 2 people running this system,
it would be hard to know. :-)

No 16" wheels clear the brakes- the brake calipers are too tall,
wheels won't clear radially as opposed to axially. I tried the
following, IIRC:

A4 5-spoke 16x7 ET45- no way
Momo arrow 16x7 ET?- no way
A6 2.7T 16x7 ET45- no way

I gave up after that. There are plenty of wheels that clear in 17".

That would be a mistake on BIRA's website.

17" wheels that I know will clear:
Oettinger RE 17x8 ET35
AZEV Type A 17x8 ET35
Mille Miglia MM11-2 17x8 ET35
S4tt Avus 17x7.5 ET45
Ronal R28 17x8.5 ET35

Pretty much any wheel that has good axial clearance will work- try
using S4tt fitments as a general guideline of what will fit- those
Lucas/Girling HP2 calipers are pretty bulky as well.

You'll want 17" wheels anyway- very hard to find 16x8 or 16x8.5 wheels
in Audi fitments (without going to weird MBZ offsets) and you won't
see the benefit of big brakes nearly as much without putting a much
better contact patch down on the ground. It would be a total waste to
use 16x7 or 15x7 wheels even if they could fit somehow. 245/40R17
should be the smallest summer tire to run for handling and braking
purposes, IMHO, esp. with big brakes.

Heck, I'm going with 245s or 255s on the STi next summer if I kill the
RE070s by then and need new rubber and wheels. 255/40R17 Kumho MX on
17x8.5 wheels will be much better than 225/45R17 RE070s on 17x7.5
wheels- contact patch makes all the difference, will offset rubber
compound as well as increasing lateral acceleration.
