rebuilding a power steering hose

Tom,

In the past I have described several times the internal subtleties of this
hose to this list.  Check the archives.  In short, the air captured in the
upper half of the hose is the compliance and the annular ring orifice
between the center restriction and the plastic tube is the resistive
component of a tuned acoustic filter which is built into the hose.  The
plastic tube handles the output of the pump and it must extend at least
through the orifice.

Yes, the hose will leak more, it now being in two pieces.
