At even the most expensive places an R12 vacuum and recharge is around
$150.00 and you have the pressure and leak guarantee of usually 1 year
at most reputable places.
An R134 conversion with vacuum and fill is around $110.00 at most major
service centers.
I went with a vacuum and fill of R12 for $150.00. I have found
inexpensive and excellent sources for
compressors,condensers,evaporators, hoses,etc.
So why should I be concerned with buying the guages and equipment to use
a cheaper refridgerant alternative?
I would much rather get my A/C system in excellent condition and then
have a shop do the vacuum and recharge for $150.00 and have the recharge
guaranteed for 1 year.
I just dont see where the real savings really are using an alternative
refridgerant.
You might save $75.00 at the most to go through a bunch of crap
especially after buying the equipment needed.
